Positive Crankcase Ventilation (Volkswagen type 4)

Posted on 27 July 2008 by Chris

I’ve been researching some issues that my 74 Campmobile has recently developed and found great resources of information. The VW recently started blowing blue smoke. The engine still has good compression but for some reason oil is getting into the intake and causing the plugs to get fouled.

I found a great resource at www.westfalia.org  in the forums. This has to be one of the best organized and informative forums I have found. I also found the website Chirco Performance very helpful.

After reading this info I believe I need to clean out the entire ventilation system and make certain it’s sealed properly. Many of the hoses are old and the fittings are loose. I will post more info on this topic as I trouble-shoot.
