VW Turkey Run Pics and Video

Posted on 16 November 2008 by Chris

There’s an unexplainable bond between car guys. Most women don’t get it. You can meet a complete stranger and in minutes feel like you’ve found a long lost relative, just because of a car.

During our Wheels and Wine event just this happened. Sean Bielman saw a bunch of vintage German and Italian cars parked at the show and stopped in to see what was going on. He let us know about his event, The VW Turkey Run. Sean is pushing to include more German cars in the show and thought our 912′s would be a great addition.

We accepted the invitation. Dave and I took off this morning in usual Porsche 912 fashion and headed down A1A along the coast of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean.

The rare occasion that Dave passes me and I get it on video!

We each drove our 68′s to the show. We were greeted at the St Augustine Flea Market Entrance and escorted to the show area.

There were so many cars scattered throughout the grounds it took a while to check it all out. We saw quite a few rat rods and the theme appeared to be “Period Correct”. From luggage to spotlights there was an array of vintage accessories to be seen. There was also raffles, swap meet and great food. People are welcome to camp at the grounds right next to the show. Next year I’m bringing the Campmobile for sure!

This was a very family friendly event. Kids love VW’s!

I’m glad you guys where able to make it out! Everyone really enjoys having the “brethren” in the mix. All together we had 6 Porches at the show. A Speedster, two 356’s, two 912’s and a 914! I’m glad to hear you guys made it home no problems… Oppps my bad you guys weren’t in VW’s you had to make it back no worries. Haha

Please make note of my email & if you would be so kind, please let me know about any size “air-cooled” gathering between Daytona & Savannah that you come across.
